If You’re Not From the Woods

If you’re not from the woods,

You’ve never heard the brook babbling

Or the bubbles and the rush of the water,

The water everywhere,

The smell of the water in the air.

You’ve never really heard the brook.

If you’re not from the woods,

You’ve never seen the trees,

The sparkle on the leaves.

They glisten in the sun.

The smell of the bark is like the smell of flowers to me.

If you’re not from the woods,

You’ve never seen trees.

If you’re not from the woods,

You’ve never seen the animals,

The beautiful deer,

The cuddly bunnies,

The snakes, raccoons, the fish.

You’ve never seen the animals

If you’re not from the woods.

If you’re not from the woods,

You’ve never seen the hills,

The beautiful grass on the hill

And the beautiful sunset behind them.

If you’re not from the woods,

You’ve never really seen the hills.

If you’re not from the woods,

You’ve never seen the rocks,

The clinking  sound they make when you walk on them,

And when they get stuck in your boots.

If you’re not from the woods,

You have never seen rocks.

If you’re not from the woods,

You have never seen the logs,

When they roll into the ponds

And how you trip on them.

You’ve never heard the vines,

The crackling of the vines,

Then wiping your face when you are running through the woods.

If you’re not from the woods,

You’ve never seen logs or the vines.

I  love the water, trees, and animals!

I love the hills, rocks, logs, and vines!

I love the woods!
